St Geralds DLS Castlebar recently welcomed the return of their former student and Olympic competitor Nicholas Quinn. Nicholas represented Ireland as a swimmer in the Rio Olympic Games. Having previously played basketball, rugby, hurling and Gaelic football until he was 15, he gave them all up to concentrate on his swimming. Nicholas said swimming was always first for me” and he balanced his training with his academic studies gaining the maximum points in his 2011 Leaving Cert. He is currently studying psychology in Edinburgh while pursuing a busy training and competitive swimming schedule. St. Geralds and Castlebar are justifiably proud of his achievements.
