Students gathered to share some lovely music, meditations and stories from the many guest speakers including Mr Brent Pope who opened the new Sensory Room.  Students prepared the refreshments and entertained the guests with their newly acquired Ukulele skills and the day concluded with the raising of the Yellow Flag and students writing the worries or doubts on biodegradable balloons before releasing them in to the air.  Well done to everyone involved and their commitment to this import issue.

Life Saving Skills in Action

Victoria Williams-Gaine, from St Joseph of Cluny Killiney has featured in the news and media recently for saving the life of Mr. Florin Popa. Victoria (16), had learned how to administer life-saving CPR in school just weeks before the Panda Waste worker (39) collapsed with a heart attack outside her home in Shankill, Co Dublin.  Mr Popa, originally from Romania, would have died if not for the quick intervention of the Victoria and they recently  met for the first time since the incident when  Mr Popa thanked Victoria for saving his life . A spokesman for Panda praised Victoria, describing her as a "superstar" and the company has donated a defibrillator to the school as a sign of gratitude.

Well done Victoria the entire Le Chéile Community are proud of you, we hope many other schools and students follow this important initiative to promote CPR Training.

First Years Welcome the New First Years

Earlier this year Le Chéile Secondary School Tyrrelstown welcomed their incoming First Year students to Blanchardstown IT for their CAT tests. The current First Year students were there to help out on the morning and some of the students even turned into models for the day - modelling the school uniform and the PE gear! The Parents Council support was also appreciated particularly how they spoke in such a warm and affirming way about the school. After a morning of tests the incoming First Years were given a ‘goodie bag’ which had been decorated with welcoming messages from the Le Chéile students. The school is really looking forward to welcoming the new students to the Le Chéile family and the First Years are excited about being ‘Angels’ to the new group.

Pictured are the Joseph OF Cluny 2X CSPE Class in Cluny and Teacher Ms Mc Aleer, who all recently 'cycled' the distance to Malawi and back assisted by the staff, teachers and parents of the school.  Mary Mitchell O'Connor,  member of the Oireachtas, took time out from her campaign to assist the girls.  The event was very kindly hosted by the Killiney Shopping Centre and we greatly appreciate the generosity of the local community who gave generous donations  and words of encouragement over the long cycle which took the best part of the day.
